sometimes, santiago de chile looks like the scene of an apocalyptic movie. the smog or fog. and the darkness. to go with it it has some huge monumental buildings, fascinating architecture, and a whole lot of memories from the past.

getting ready to be photographed, the last finishing touches are made as the dog’s owner puts some glasses on his head. next to the souvenir sits a little girl waiting for her mommy to finish today’s work. their every day consist of waiting and living what to us, the tourists, is different as we look around at the chaotic and colorful city of lima.
when the sun goes down in rio the place to be is ipanema. crowds gather by the beach on a huge stone to admire the great spectacle of sunset. after filling the sky with colors the sun dives into the sea. applause from the people gathered at the stone stone fills the darkness with joy. boa noite rio. hope to see you again soon.
most of the roadside in chile is filled with beautiful sights and breathtaking nature – still every now and then you pass a little tragedy. small altars along the road in remembrance of people who lost their lives in traffic accidents is a far too common sight. then, one of the many forest fires lights up a hillside and people are doing all they can to save their homes.

say hi to niterói. rio de janeiro’s little cousin just across the bay. most famous for its contemporary art museum and its fantastic view of rio. the sanfransico beach is worth a visit when going here, and everything seems quiet compared to the extremely lively city of rio.
